Landscape Before and After Photos
The homeowner desired to have 2 stately, matching Sylvester palms installed in the small front yard as a statement of luxury and Curb Appeal that was unique to this neighborhood in Odessa, Florida. Urban Escape Design planned the shrub and ground-cover greenery to become secondary to the 2 sentry palms flanking the front door.
The owner of this home in Odessa Florida wanted more curb appeal and did not like the look of the large palm in the front yard which blocked the house.
New landscape bed-lines were created and the concrete edgers were also removed and a variety of plants installed that display textures and colors that play off of each other. Plants, such as, Foxtail Fern, Parsons Juniper, Crinum Lily, White Bird of Paradise and Cuban Gold were used to bring life & color into the design.
This home needed curb appeal to sell fast for a homeowner’s relocation for work.
All existing plants were removed because they did not look healthy, but mature trees were kept. The landscape was transformed from an all green-scape to an inviting and colorful attention-getter. The house was under contract in two days. Curb Appeal does make a difference when you want to sell your home faster, and is especially important when the interior of your home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. The exterior is a prelude to the interior showcase experience.
These homeowners were true do-it-yourselfers but had no idea of plant selection and a plan for where to plant.
One of the vitally important, main ingredients of a successful landscape is to have the right plants in the right locations. A landscape plan was drawn by Urban Escape Design incorporating plants that would thrive in shady conditions, selected by the home owners and the designer working as a team. The plants were installed by the homeowners following the instructions of Urban Escape Design, and the photos show the lush tropical appearance of the yard after about one year of growth.
Whimsical, Enchanted Feel in this Confetti Landscape Garden
This Cape Cod / ranch style home in a historic neighborhood in Tampa, Florida had great landscape “bones”; defined by several concrete paver walks leading from the driveway and the street to the front door. A large Magnolia shade tree and small Ligustrum, Crape Myrtle and Jatropha ornamental trees, along with Ilex (holly), Azalea, Liriope, Asparagus Fern green base shrubs and ground-covers traverse the space. Depth and spaciousness was increased for the shallow plantable area in the front yard by planting a variety of small flowering and contrasting green plants, such as, Pentas, Vinca, Begonia, Sweet Potato Vine, Liriope, Foxtail Fern, Cuban Gold, Crotons and Snow Queen Hibiscus.
Creating a Confetti Landscape Garden provided boosted appeal from the street & sidewalk views, and an enjoyable view out of the many windows of the home. A whimsical garden that is home to butterflies and dragonflies, both real and stained glass. Potted Variegated Sanseveria in urns on plinths are placed thoughtfully in the garden as accents. The grow-in of the plants over time and the dynamic seasonal changes make this garden a magical place and brings unsolicited compliments from passers-by taking a morning or evening stroll. About a year after the transformation, the garden was awarded the honor of “Yard of the Month” by the local neighborhood association.
The combination of mostly dark green plants and complete shade had created a very subdued landscape for this home in Tampa, Florida.
Additionally, the turf was weakened by the shade and the low-lying areas tended to hold moisture. Curb Appeal was switched on by using colorful, variegated and bright green plants such as Blueberry Flax Lily, Arboricola, Foxtail Fern, and Macho Fern. Areas of thinning turf became enlarged landscape beds of ferns with a ground-cover of pine needles. The new look is light, bright and inviting with plenty of space for walking among the plants.
A tired landscape full of missing plants was refreshed by breaking up the spaces of a deep front yard into individual landscape beds, adding more lawn, and using a variety of low maintenance, green ground-covers and shrubs.
The 2 multi-trunked Roebellini Palms were kept to “anchor” key locations in the landscape. The result was a successful Curb Appeal transformation that delights the eyes and brought many compliments from neighbors, family and friends. Plants used include, Foxtail Fern, Jack Frost Ligustrum, Dwarf Oyster Plant, Hawaiian Ti Plant, and Nandina.
The homeowner had a straight one lane driveway removed to create more parking spaces for the family with a circular driveway and small island.
There were also drainage issues to solve with the large amount of pavers in the front yard and the fairly steep slope of the driveway. A tropical layering of plants opened up the space and made it seem larger than it really is. Using the river pebbles instead of mulch keeps the soil in place for a nice, clean look
This Tampa, Florida homeowner was preparing this very unique, architecturally-styled home for sale.
To create instant Curb Appeal, Urban Escape Design used tropical, colorful plants, such as Crotons, Liriope, Foxtail Fern, Arboricola, Pentas, Hawaiian Ti Plant, Apostle Iris, Dwarf Oyster Plant, Blueberry Flax Lily, Bromeliads, and Macho Fern.
