Karen Taylor’s garden was one of two landscapes to receive the 2019 Community Waterwise Award in the City of Tampa, Florida. The Community Water Wise Awards program recognizes individuals and businesses that are committed to conserving our water resources and protecting the environment by using attractive Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ and irrigation systems or techniques that minimize water waste.  Winning landscapes represent the beauty and resiliency of our natural environment.

Karen’s garden was featured in an article in the Tampa Bay Times on October 6, 2019. She was interviewed about her garden and the upcoming Seminole Heights Garden Tour where her garden will be on the tour. The third annual Seminole Heights Garden Tour in Tampa is hosted by Friends of the Seminole Heights Library, the event includes seven gardens in the historic neighborhood, plus the Sustainable Living Project, a nonprofit urban farm.

In September 2019, Karen Taylor, a landscape architect and Tampa homeowner in the Seminole Heights neighborhood has been awarded for the recognition of her gardening practices, the Gold level of the Florida-Friendly Yards Award.
